Xplor Park - Riviera Maya
Whether you're an adrenaline junkie or you want to bring out your adventurous side, an action-packed day out at Xplor Park is just the ticket. Located on the Riviera Maya, this incredible natural adventure park is all about outdoor thrills and exploration. You'll find two zip-line circuits, an underground river, lush green jungles and much more, all ready and waiting for you. If you fancy a change of scenery from the beach, Xplor Park makes a great day out for families, couples or anyone seeking a thrill.
Soar through the sky
A day spent at Xplor Adventure Park will start in the sky and finish underground. The soaring zip line is a great place to begin your day's adventures; it's one of the tallest zip-lining courses anywhere in Latin America. You'll climb up to a platform above the jungle before rushing down at quite a speed, criss-crossing 14 lines along the way. As you zoom through the trees, you can admire the breathtaking views around you (see if you can see the Caribbean Sea in the distance) and dip your toes in the river below.
Go deep underground
Once you've landed, it's time to hop aboard an amphibious vehicle. This will take you on an off-road adventure through the heart of the jungle, then straight to the underground river. You can take a few moments to relax here, as you float through the amazing rock formations on a raft. Or if you dare, you can dive right in and swim up close to the stalactites and stalagmites. You can go on fascinating cavern walks, too, where you'll discover ancient landscapes. You'll feel like you've been transported back to the Age of Cavemen. Xplor Park has a cultural side, too; why not go and explore the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, an old Mayan settlement?
Insider tips
With all this adventure, you're sure to work up an appetite. It's a good job, then, that Xplor Park provides an all-day, all-you-can-eat buffet. It's stocked up with snacks galore, fresh fruit smoothies, and even hot chocolate (which is ideal if you start feeling chilly after your underground adventure). You'll be free to help yourself, so there's no need to worry about packing a lunch to bring with you.
Many hotels in Cancun and Riviera Maya offer a safe and secure shuttle service over to Xplor Adventure Park. You're going to get wet (and probably muddy, too), so be sure to wear comfy clothes and sturdy shoes. It's worth bringing your swimwear, too, as well as water shoes if you have them (the park also sells them). Don't forget your sun cream, either. Lots of activities will require safety harnesses and helmets, but they'll be provided for you.
Wondering when to go? Well, as you'd expect, summer is high season, so it's busiest and hottest at this time of year. Don't let that put you off, though; this park is huge, so there's plenty of room for everyone, and most of the activities centre around water or caves (which are ideal when you feel like cooling off).
