You could be forgiven for thinking that things to do in Playa Mujeres are a bit limited; it's a tranquil place, especially if you compare it to its noisy neighbour Cancun. Don't be fooled though, there's plenty to enjoy here during your holiday.
Places to go
Isla Mujeres is just a 20-minute ferry ride away. You'll find Hacienda Sur, where you can wander along shady paths to a solar clock garden, as well as browsing the stalls in the local market for souvenirs. It's a hotspot for reef snorkelling and scuba diving too.
Places to visit
You're about three hours drive from the Mayan temples at Chichen Itza where you can see El Castillo and stone carvings at the Temple of the Warriors. Cenote Te'Kah is in nearby Yum Balam natural park, great for a swim in limestone filtered waters.
Attractions
One of the top things to do in Playa Mujeres is to spend time on the beach. It's gently shelving sands are ideal for children to enjoy and because there's not been as much development here, it's got an exclusive feel. This is also a great place for golfers. The famous Playa Mujeres Golf Club was designed by Greg Norman and offers 18 holes, all with spectacular views.
