What's the weather like in Tunisia in September?
If the daytime temperatures in July and August are a bit too hot for you, the weather in September in Tunisia could be perfect. The highs can still reach 30°C, but there’s always a cool sea breeze and a few light showers keep the climate fresh and comfortable.
Geographical influences
Tunisia’s warm climate is thanks to its location on the northern tip of Africa. This beautiful country has a Mediterranean coastline that’s bathed in sunshine for most of the year. The summer weather extends between late April and September, with September being much quieter than July and August.
Averages
The Tunisia weather in September sees the average high temperature rise to 31°C. Southern resorts, such as Djerba, could be one or two degrees warmer than this. In the evenings, it usually cools to around 19°C, which is ideal for strolls along the promenade or sight-seeing in historic towns and cities. The average rainfall’s just 28mm over three rain-affected days. The moderate wind speed of 10mph does a good job of blowing any clouds along, and the sunshine levels are impressive in September in Tunisia. Between nine to ten hours of sun can be expected, from 12 hours of daylight, with the sun dipping at around 6.45pm. This month, the Mediterranean will still be around 26°C, allowing you to try a few fun water sports along the beaches. Use plenty of sun cream by the pool and beach though, as the UV index remains quite high in Tunisia in September.
