What’s the weather like in Tenerife in February?
Tenerife is warm all year round thanks to its location off the west coast of Africa. February’s one of the coolest and wettest months of the year, but there will still be lots of sunshine and rain shouldn't be a major problem.
Geographical influences
Although conditions in Tenerife can sometimes feel like you're in the Sahara Desert due to the hot winds and occasional dust storm, the cooling effect of the Canary Current means the weather generally stays comfortable. Mount Teide shelters the south of Tenerife from north easterly winds, meaning it enjoys warmer temperatures and less rainfall than the north. The mountainous region also attracts rainfall so coastal regions stay dry.
Averages
The average high temperature during February is 20ºC, giving plenty of chance to work on your winter tan. So if you're planning holidays to Tenerife at this time, warmer clothes for the evenings as well as your beach gear are essential, as temperatures cool to 12ºC. The average sea temperature’s 19ºC, while humidity’s low and ranges from around 60-90%. Average rainfall’s 42mm over 5 rainy days.
Daylight
During February you can expect 11 hours of daylight each day with 7 hours of sunshine. Be wary of the UV index which is at a high level despite it still technically being winter; sunset’s just before 7pm at the beginning of February, gradually getting later as the month goes on.
