What’s the weather like in Lanzarote in September?
The furthest east of the Spanish Canary Islands, Lanzarote’s off the west coast of North Africa. This means it has hot weather and hardly any rain in September, making Lanzarote ideal for guaranteed late summer sun.
Climatic influences
Lanzarote enjoys warm temperatures throughout the year due to its location less than 130km from the Sahara Desert. North easterly winds and the Canary Current, which is also great for the island’s diving, will keep you comfortable in September. The desert can send over hot winds though, along with the occasional dust storm. As Lanzarote’s relatively flat, there’s not much difference in weather across the island, although the south generally gets the best of things.
Averages
The average high in Lanzarote during September is 29ºC, which only falls to 20ºC at night. You'll need your beach gear and swimwear for the day, while you'll probably be comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt in the evening. The average sea temperature’s 22ºC, while humidity’s low and ranges from 50% to 90%. Average rainfall’s just 2mm, so the chances of even a little shower are low.
Daylight
You can expect 12 hours of daylight and seven hours of sunshine each day in September. UV levels will be very high so make sure you pack plenty of sun cream and drink lots of water, while sunset’s around 8pm.
