What’s the weather like in Lanzarote in February?
The furthest east of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote enjoys a warm climate throughout the year due to its location off the western shores of North Africa. February is one of the coolest months of the year but there’s still plenty of sunshine, making Lanzarote ideal for a sunny winter break.
Climatic influences
With the Sahara Desert nearby, Lanzarote can have hot winds and dust storms when the weather is changeable as it is in February. The cooling Canary Current and north easterly winds keep it pleasant, while there isn’t much difference in weather around the island due to it being relatively flat. There are certain microclimates to keep an eye on, with the most notable being that the south of the island is generally a little warmer and sunnier than the north.
Averages
The average high temperature during February is 21ºC, so don’t forget to pack your beach gear if you're planning holidays to Lanzarote at this time. You'll need some warmer clothes for the evenings though, as temperatures cool to 13ºC. The average sea temperature’s 18ºC, while humidity’s low and ranges from the mid-60s to late-80s (%). February’s one of the wettest months of the year, yet average rainfall’s really low at just 21mm across three rainy days.
Daylight
During February you can expect 11 hours of daylight with seven hours of sunshine each day. The UV index is high so take care in the sun. Sunset’s just after 6.30pm at the beginning of February, and closer to 7pm by the end of the month.
