What’s the weather like in Fuerteventura in October?
Just over 100km off the west coast of North Africa, Fuerteventura’s the closest Canary Island to Africa. This location means the island has warm weather all year round, so you can look forward to lots of sun and hardly any rain in October.
Climatic influences
You might get some really hot weather in Fuerteventura if the nearby Sahara Desert sends hot winds over to the island, which can also bring the occasional dust storm. You'll mostly be kept cool by north easterly winds and the Canary Current, which is a cool stream of water that comes from the Atlantic. Fuerteventura’s sheltered by Lanzarote, which sits just to the north and means Fuerteventura has drier weather than other Canaries with a climate that stays similar around the island.
Averages
The average high temperature in Fuerteventura during October is 26ºC, so you'll spend lots of time sunning yourself at the beach or by the pool. Things stay pleasant in the evenings so you shouldn't need much more than a light jumper, while you might feel air conditioning’s a good idea. The average sea temperature’s at its annual high temperature of 22ºC, while humidity’s low and ranges from around 60% to 90%. Average rainfall’s just 6mm over two rainy days.
Daylight
During October you can expect 11 hours of daylight with seven hours of sunshine. Don't be shy with the sun cream as UV levels will be high. Sunset is at 7.40pm at the start of the month; this is closer to 6pm towards the end of October due to daylight saving ending.
