What’s the weather like in Fuerteventura in March?
Located just over 100km from the west coast of Africa, there’s pleasant weather all year round in Fuerteventura. The high season starts in March for many parts of the island, as temperatures rise and the amount of rain falls. If you're going to the island in March you'll get plenty of sunshine.
Climatic influences
The closest of the Canary Islands to African shores, Fuerteventura gets its warm climate from the nearby Sahara Desert. Hot winds and the occasional dust storm can make it feel like you're in the desert at times, although the cooling Canary Current and north easterly winds will usually keep you comfortable. Lanzarote sits just to the northeast of Fuerteventura and blocks trade winds, meaning there’s more consistent weather across Fuerteventura compared to other Canaries.
Averages
The average high temperature in Fuerteventura during March is 22ºC, so you'll be spending lots of time by the pool or at the beach. You should pack some warmer clothes for the evenings though as temperatures cool to 14ºC. The average sea temperature’s 18ºC, while humidity’s low and ranges from the mid-50s to just under 85%. Average rainfall’s just 11mm across three days with rain.
Daylight
In March you can expect 12 hours of daylight with seven hours of sunshine each day. Take care in the sun as UV levels will be very high. Aunset’s just before 7pm at the beginning of March, and after 8pm by the end of the month due to the start of daylight saving.
