What’s the weather like in Menorca in October?
Sitting off the east coast of Spain, Balearic island Menorca has a typical Mediterranean climate. The long, hot summers stretch out into October, so you'll get lots of sun at this time, along with thinner crowds.
Climatic quirks
Menorca enjoys over 300 days of sunshine every year, though the weather’s a bit cooler and wetter due to being further north than the other Balearics. It’s nicknamed the ‘Windy Island’ because of its several prevailing winds, one being the tramontana north wind that blows cool, dry air towards Menorca from the French coast. The winds will keep you cool when temperatures are high, and also make for great water sports on the island.
Averages
The average high temperature during October is 23ºC, which falls to a comfortable 15ºC at night time. It’s perfectly warm enough to chill out on the beach in the day but you should pack a light jumper for the evenings. The average sea temperature’s 23ºC, while humidity’s low and ranges from 60% to a touch above 90%. Rain picks up towards the end of October, giving Menorca an average of 85mm over 12 rainy days for the month.
Daylight
During October you can expect 11 hours of daylight with six hours of sunshine each day and UV levels will be moderate. Sunset’s just before 7.30pm at the start of the month; this gradually gets earlier before the end of daylight saving means it’s before 6pm towards the end of October.
