What's the weather like in Menorca in May?
Menorca’s one of Spain’s Balearic Islands and enjoys Mediterranean weather, with things getting hotter in May as the summer gets closer. You'll get lots of warm and sunny weather if you're going to Menorca at this time, while there’s less rain after winter and spring.
Climatic quirks
Menorca has slightly cooler and wetter weather in May than the other Balearic islands due it being further north; it still has more than 300 sunny days a year though. Menorca’s dubbed the ‘Windy Island’ as it gets several winds, the northern tramontana’s the most significant, which blows cool and dry air over from France. The winds are great for water sports, as well as keeping you cool.
Averages
The average high temperature in Menorca during May is 22ºC, so you can look forward to chilling out at the beach or by the pool in your swimwear. Bring some warmer things for the evenings though as it gets quite cool at night. The usual sea temperature’s 18ºC, while humidity’s low and rainfall’s normally 34mm over eight rainy days. You can expect nine hours of sunshine from 14 hours of daylight each day, while UV levels will be very high so pack sun cream. Sunset’s at 8.40pm at the start of the month, gradually getting later.
