As proud ABTA members we deliver the highest standards when it comes to our holidays. So if you book with us you’re guaranteed the best service. Our ABTA number is P8283, Y6720.
What’s the weather like in Madeira in September?
The location of Madeira off the northwest coast of Africa means the archipelago has warm weather all year round. The long and hot summer’s still in full swing in September and you'll get lots of high temperatures and sun if you're going on your Madeira holidays at this time. The amount of rain does start to pick up towards the end of the month as Madeira heads towards autumn. The Gulf Stream’s waters warm things up, while the cooler Canary Current does the opposite. Madeira’s mountains north easterly winds make the north and east a bit cooler and wetter than elsewhere. Hot winds can sometimes blow in from the Sahara Desert too, driving temperatures up.
Averages
In September, Madeira’s average high reaches 25ºC and things are pleasant in the evenings with temperatures dropping to 16ºC at night. At 24ºC, the sea’s great for swimming, while humidity’s low. There’s 36mm of rain over nine days, and you can expect 12 hours of daylight with seven hours of sunshine each day. UV levels will be very high so bring plenty of sun cream. Sunset’s around 8.30pm at the start of the month.
