What's the weather like in Portugal in February?

Portugal’s on the Iberian Peninsula surrounded by neighbours Spain and the North Atlantic Ocean. It’s the furthest-west country in Europe, and has a pleasant year-round climate with mild winter temperatures. In February Portugal generally has quite mild and wet weather, although you can go to places that offer some good winter sun.

Climatic variances

There’s different weather around Portugal, with the south having a fairly typical Mediterranean climate, while the Gulf Stream warms things up further up the west coast. You'll get cool breezes around the coast, while things are usually a bit warmer inland. Popular Madeira’s an island off the northwest coast of Africa and has subtropical weather that’s hotter than mainland Portugal.
