What's the weather like in the Algarve in November?

The Algarve’s in the south of Portugal close to the north coast of Africa, which means that even as winter sets in temperatures remain high, and you'll get plenty of sun in November. You may prefer the cooler weather compared to summer, although the month’s one of the wettest.

Climatic influences

With the warmest weather in Portugal, the Algarve’s also one of Europe’s sunniest destinations. The mountains that divide the north and south of Portugal protect the Algarve from northern and Atlantic winds, keeping you warm and dry. It’s even warmer and drier in the east, which is closer to the Mediterranean as opposed to the Atlantic to the west. The winds that do reach the Algarve are stronger offshore, so you can enjoy some great sailing and water sports in the region.

The capital of the Algarve, Faro, has an average high of 19ºC in November, so it’s great for some warm weather while the UK’s cold. You should bring some warmer clothes for the evenings though as it cools to a chilly 10ºC at night. The sea temperature’s 20ºC, while humidity’s moderate. Average rainfall’s 83mm over ten rainy days, but you can still expect ten hours of daylight each day with six hours of sunshine. UV levels will be moderate. Sunset’s around 5.30pm for most of the month.
