What's the weather like in Mauritius in September?

Mauritius sits off the southeast coast of Africa some 900km east of Madagascar. It’s close to the Tropic of Capricorn, which means it has a tropical climate that gives you high temperatures and lots of sunny weather in September.

 Climate

Mauritius has two distinct seasons, a warm and humid summer from November to April, and a cooler and drier winter from June to September. Mauritius is quite mountainous, which means there’s different weather across the island. It’s a bit warmer and drier in the north and west than in the south and east. You'll also get warmer weather on the coast compared to inland all year round.

In September there’s an average high of 26ºC, while humidity’s low. The sea temperature’s a fantastic 23ºC, which is perfect for swimming, while there’s 50mm of rain over four days. Things stay nice and pleasant in the evenings after the sun goes down just after 6pm, after you've had seven hours of sunshine from the 12 hours of daylight there usually are in September.
