What’s the weather like in India in August?
India experiences monsoons right across the country from June to September, making August one of the wettest months of the year. In August the southwestern coasts including Goa and Kerala are particularly wet but very hot, while the north of India is drier and sunny. Even though it’s impossible to avoid the rain at this time of year, showers are usually intense but short-lived, making way for blue skies and warm weather.Averages
In coastal regions such as Goa, August brings average temperatures of 28°C and highs of 30°C in the peak of the day. With lows of 26°C at night, Goa experiences very warm temperatures throughout the day, so you’ll be grateful for air conditioning. Although the region is hot at this time of year, it’s also very wet with the monsoon season bringing in over 500mm of rain across the month in short, sharp bursts. For drier weather, northern cities such as New Delhi experience much less rain, with around 175mm falling across August.Goa
