Thassos is a beautiful Greek Island in the North Aegean Sea. Its climate is very warm and sunny but the weather here is slightly warmer than other Greek Islands due to its location in the north east of Greece. If you’re looking for sun-kissed beaches and mild sea waters, the best time to go to Thassos is in the summer. The summer season runs from May to September with July having the warmest weather. The average is 24°C but you can expect highs of 31°C on the hottest days. Thassos avoids the prevailing winds because it’s sheltered by mainland Greece. Most islands experience a drop in temperature because of the winds but in their absence, Thassos is very warm and humid. The heat isn’t eased by a cooling breeze, so make sure to find shade during the warmest part of the day. Sea temperatures are usually very mild and enjoyable, ranging from 24°C to 27°C throughout spring and summer. The surrounding waters are perfect for swimming for most of the year but tend to be too cold in the winter. The best time to visit Thassos for mild waters and cool sea breezes is July and August when the sea is warm and winds are very calm.
