What's the weather like in Sharm El Sheikh in October?
The location of Sharm El Sheikh on Egypt’s Red Sea coast at the tip of the Sinai Peninsula means it has a hot desert climate with hardly any rain all year round. You might find October’s the ideal time to visit Sharm El Sheikh as temperatures start to cool after the scorching summer.
Climatic influences
Sharm El Sheikh has two seasons, with summer lasting from March to October, and winter from November to February. The only difference between each month of the year though is the temperature, so deciding when to go’s a case of choosing how much heat suits you best. The Red Sea takes the edge off the extreme temperatures, although you'll get these inland in the desert. North Africa’s Atlas Mountains attract rain and are the main reason behind Sharm El Sheikh getting almost none.
Averages
The average high in Sharm El Sheikh’s 31ºC in October, with evenings also staying nice and warm. At 20ºC, you won’t need to bring many warm clothes. The sea temperature’s a lovely 27ºC, so it’s perfect for swimming, while humidity’s moderate. There’s just 2mm of rain, leaving you to look forward to ten long hours of sunshine from 11 hours of daylight each day. UV levels will be very high so wear sun cream. Sunset’s at 5.30pm at the start of the month and gradually gets earlier.
