What’s the weather like in Sharm El Sheikh in January?

Sharm El Sheikh is on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, which means it has a hot desert climate with warm weather all year round. January is in winter and it’s one of the coolest months of the year, but you'll still get lots of sun at this time so wear sun cream. If you prefer to avoid the really hot summer temperatures, then it’s a perfect time to visit. Sitting on the Sinai Peninsula, Sharm El Sheikh hardly has any rain throughout the year and this is because it’s sheltered by the Atlas Mountains. You'll be kept nice and cool by the Red Sea on the coast, with higher temperatures inland.

The average high in Sharm El Sheikh is 22ºC in January, which is lovely for relaxing on the beach. You should bring some warmer clothes for the evenings as temperatures cool to 10ºC at night. UV levels will be moderate but make sure you still use sun cream. Sunset’s just after 5pm for much of the month.
