What’s the weather like in Egypt in October?
As part of North Africa, located across the Red Sea from the Middle East, Egypt enjoys hot weather and hardly any rain in October. The summer can get pretty scorching, so October’s a great time to book your Egypt holidays if you want to avoid this.
Red Sea Riviera
Most of Egypt’s terrain is desert, so the weather’s hot and dry all year round. South of Cairo there’s hardly any rain, including on the country’s popular Red Sea Riviera. The only region that really gets much rain is the Mediterranean coast. The Sinai Peninsula, where you'll find popular Sharm El Sheikh, is mostly dry because of the Atlas Mountains. You'll be kept cool in spots like Sharm and Hurghada by breezes and north westerly winds, which make the coast more comfortable than inland places such as Cairo and Luxor.
Averages
The average high in Sharm El Sheikh during October is 31ºC, so you can look forward to plenty of sun. You won’t need to bring many warm clothes with you, as things stay quite warm in the evenings, but you’ll probably want to get a room with air conditioning. At 27ºC, the sea’s warm and inviting, while humidity’s moderate and ranges from around 30% to 60%. Average rainfall’s just 2mm.
Daylight
During October you can expect 11 hours of daylight with ten long hours of sunshine each day. As UV levels are also very high, you should take care when spending a lot of time in the sun; drink plenty of water and use lots of sun cream. Sunset’s at 5.30pm at the start of October, and gradually gets earlier as the month goes on.
