What’s the weather like in Egypt in December?
Located in North Africa separated from the Middle East by the Red Sea, Egypt enjoys warm and sunny weather in December. You'll get some rain on the country’s Mediterranean coast, but there’s not much rain away from there. It’s a great time to plan Egypt holidays if you prefer cooler temperatures than in summer.
Red Sea Riviera
The Red Sea Riviera’s really popular, with the sea making for a much better for a holiday compared to Egypt’s desert areas. There’s hardly any rain south of Cairo, including on the Sinai Peninsula, which is where the popular resort of Sharm El Sheikh is. The Atlas Mountains shelter resorts like Sharm and Hurghada from rain, while they’re also cooler than inland places like Cairo and Luxor, because of breezes from the sea.
Averages
The average high in Sharm El Sheikh during December is 23ºC, so it’s a great place for you to relax on the beach. Although you should pack some warmer clothes for the evenings as things can get quite cool. The average sea temperature’s an inviting 24ºC, while humidity’s low and ranges from around 30% to 60%. There’s hardly any rain, with just 4mm over a single rainy day.
Daylight
During December you can expect ten hours of daylight in Sharm El Sheikh, with eight hours of sunshine. UV levels will be moderate so make sure you look after yourself in the sun, which sets just before 5pm.
