What’s the weather like in Cyprus in September?

Located in the east of the Mediterranean just off the southern Turkish coast and north of Egypt, Cyprus has hot and dry weather in September. The island’s one of the hottest places you can go to in the Mediterranean as it’s so close to southwest Asia.

Climatic influences

Although temperatures are high, you'll be kept cool at Cyprus’ coastal areas by breezes and the Mediterranean Sea. There’s not much difference in weather between the north and south, although it’s warmer and drier in the east because of westerly winds. The island has two mountain ranges, with Mount Olympus the highest point at almost 2,000m. The mountains are cooler than the coast, attract rain and protect the east coast from winds.

You'll get an average high temperature of 29ºC in Paphos during September, which is a popular spot for Cyprus holidays. You won’t need to bring too many warm clothes for the evenings, as temperatures only fall to 19ºC at night. The sea’s nice and warm with an average temperature of 26ºC, while humidity’s moderate and ranges from 50% to around 80%. There’s hardly any rain at this time, with around 4mm falling over a single rainy day.
