What’s the weather like in Cyprus in January?

Close to southwest Asia just off the south coast of Turkey and north of Egypt, holidays to Cyprus offer some the Mediterranean’s best weather. January’s one of the wettest months of the year, but you'll still see plenty of sun at this time.

Climatic influences

The Mediterranean Sea’s quite cool in January and this makes the weather mild too. There’s not much difference between the north and south, but the east’s warmer and drier than the west because of westerly winds and Cyprus’ two mountain ranges. At nearly 2,000m, Mount Olympus is the tallest of the Troodos mountains, which also protect the Mesaoria plain from rain.
