What’s the weather like in Croatia in October?
Croatia’s a diverse country with great holiday spots and different weather across its regions. If you're going somewhere on the popular coast you'll get warm weather if you plan your Croatia holidays at this time, although there’s more rain as October goes on.
Geographical influences
The Adriatic Sea has a big impact on the weather at the coast, which is cooling down in October after the hot summer. The Pannonian Plains in the north bring hot summers and cold winters to the area where you'll find capital Zagreb, while it’s cooler at the central Dinara mountains. You'll get less rain further east because of the low-lying Danube valleys.
Averages
Popular Dubrovnik has an average high temperature of 19ºC in October, which is still warm enough to spend days at the beach. You'll want to bring some warmer clothes for the evenings as things can get quite chilly, with temperatures falling to 9ºC at night. The average sea temperature’s 21ºC, while humidity’s low and ranges from just below 50% to the mid-80s%. Rain picks up as the month goes on with an average of 162mm over 11 rainy days.
Daylight
During October you can expect an average of 11 hours of daylight in Dubrovnik with six hours of sunshine each day. UV levels will be moderate, and the sun sets at 6.30pm at the start of the month; daylight saving finishes at the end of October, when sunset’s closer to 5pm.
