What's the weather like in Croatia in April?

Croatia’s geography includes an Adriatic coastline and land that stretches out into Southeast Europe; the weather doesn’t change too much across the country though. This means that things are generally improving in April as spring goes on, with popular holiday destinations getting good amounts of warm and sunny weather.

Geographical influences

Croatia’s climate is quite continental, and gets more Mediterranean towards the Adriatic and equator. The sea has a big influence on the coast’s weather, while the Pannonian Plains play a big part in the north. The central Dinara mountains get cooler temperatures than coastal spots, while there’s less rain the further east you go due to the low-lying Danube valleys.

There’s different weather around Croatia, but the Dalmatian Coast’s popular Dubrovnik has a typical high temperature of 16ºC in April, which drops to quite a chilly 7ºC at night. The average sea temperature’s 15ºC, while humidity’s low and rainfall’s usually 104mm over ten rainy days. You can expect 13 hours of daylight with six hours of sunshine each day and high UV levels, so make sure you remember your sun cream. Sunset is at 7.15pm at the start of the month, gradually getting later.
