What's the weather like in Playa del Carmen in September?
Located in the far east of Mexico on the country’s Yucatan Peninsula, Playa del Carmen is a popular beach resort with spectacular tropical scenery and great weather. Temperatures are hot here all year round, but there’s a wet season which lasts from June to October. September’s the wettest month of the year, so you should come prepared to see some rain at this time. You’ll still get plenty of clear skies at this Caribbean destination if you visit in September, though.
Averages
At this time of year, the average temperature in Playa del Carmen is 28ºC, peaking at 32ºC in the hottest part of the afternoon. With temperatures like these and the strong UV levels, it’s important that you protect yourself with plenty of sun cream if you visit the resort in September. After sunset, the average low only drops to 24ºC, so having air conditioning in your hotel room is a good idea. Quite a few of the days this month see rain, with a total of 215mm forecast over the whole of September. There are still nine hours of sunshine each day, though, while the Caribbean Sea’s a balmy 28ºC and perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
