What's the weather like in Playa del Carmen in July?
Sitting on the popular Yucatan Peninsula not far from Cancun, Playa del Carmen is a great destination for a relaxing beach holiday. With picture-perfect Caribbean scenery and a vibrant atmosphere, it has a tropical climate bringing hot weather to the region all year round. There’s a rainy season which lasts from June to October, and although July’s quite wet, it’s still much drier than other parts of the year. Despite the chance of downpours, there’s still lots of warm, sunny weather in July, with ten hours of sunshine each day at this time.
Averages
In July, the average temperature in Playa del Carmen is 28ºC, with highs reaching 32ºC in the peak of the day. With this heat and the extremely high UV levels, it’s important that you protect yourself with plenty of high factor sun cream, and find shade between 11am and 3pm. After dark, temperatures only dip to 24ºC, so you’ll want to think about having air conditioning in your hotel room for the nights. Around 120mm of rain’s forecast over 12 days in July, but downpours often clear quickly. The Caribbean Sea’s a warm 28ºC at this time, perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
