What's the weather like in Cape Verde in September?
Located off the west coast of North Africa in the North Atlantic Ocean, Cape Verde has a stunning tropical climate with lots of sunshine in September. The weather doesn’t change much through the year in the ‘African Caribbean’, although September’s both the hottest and wettest month.
Climatic variances
Cape Verde hardly gets any rain, even though it’s a tropical destination. The most popular islands, Sal and Boa Vista, get less rain than other islands, which usually comes in short showers that leave clear blue skies behind. You'll be cooler in Cape Verde compared to mainland Africa as you're surrounded by the sea, with winds and breezes helping to keep you comfortable. It’s cooler on the coast compared to inland, while most of the islands are relatively flat, which means Cape Verde’s quite windy.
Averages
Sal has an average high of 30ºC in September, which is the highest of the year. This only drops to 24ºC at night so you won’t be needing many warm clothes on your holiday. At 27ºC the sea’s perfect for swimming and lounging around in. Humidity’s high and there’s 58mm of rain over three days. You can expect 12 hours of daylight with seven hours of sunshine each day, while UV levels will be extremely high so make sure you take plenty of sun cream. The sun won’t set until around 8.30pm in September, which is ideal for dinner with a view.
