What's the weather like in Cape Verde in February?

The location of Cape Verde off the west coast of North Africa in the North Atlantic Ocean means these islands have high temperatures all year round. Dubbed the ‘African Caribbean’, you'll get plenty of warm and sunny weather in February with hardly any rain.

    Climatic variances

Despite having a tropical climate, Cape Verde hardly gets any rain all year round. Some islands get more rain than others, although the most popular islands, Sal and Boa Vista, are among the driest. Cape Verde’s cooler than mainland Africa due to the surrounding Atlantic, with sea breezes and trade winds keeping you cool. You'll see higher temperatures inland, while Cape Verde’s quite windy because it’s relatively flat.

    Averages

Popular island Sal has a usual high temperature of 25ºC in February, so it’s perfect for escaping the chilly UK weather at this time. Things stay quite warm in the evenings, with temperatures only falling to 18ºC at night. The average sea temperature’s 22ºC, while humidity’s low and there’s not much chance of rain, with just 2mm over a single rainy day. You can expect 12 hours of daylight with seven hours of sunshine each day, while UV levels will be very high so make sure you pack some high factor sun cream. Sunset’s around 6.30pm.
