What's the weather like in Cape Verde in April?

Located in the North Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of North Africa, Cape Verde has a tropical climate with high temperatures all year round. You'll get lots of dry and sunny weather if you're going to the ‘African Caribbean’ in April.

    Climatic variances

There’s some differences in weather across Cape Verde’s islands, with some islands getting more rain than others. Popular Sal and Boa Vista are among the driest, although there’s only really rain between August and October; Cape Verde’s very dry for a tropical destination. The islands are cooler than mainland Africa due to the surrounding Atlantic, which will keep you cool along with sea breezes and trade winds. It’s cooler on the coast than inland, while the Cape Verde islands are quite windy as they're relatively flat.

    Averages

One of Cape Verde’s most popular islands, Sal, has an average high temperature of 25ºC in April, which only falls to 19ºC at night. The normal sea temperature’s 22ºC, while humidity’s low. There’s not usually any rain in Sal during April, and you can expect 13 hours of daylight with nine hours of sunshine each day. Be careful in the sun and pack sun cream as UV levels will be extreme. Sunset’s around 6.45pm in April.
