Located on the northern slopes of the Rila mountains, Borovets is Bulgaria’s oldest ski resort. Found in the country’s Sofia Province, the weather’s freezing cold over winter, making January perfect for enjoying the area’s snow sports. Whether you’re skiing or snowboarding down the slopes, or spending the evening out in the resort, you’ll need plenty of warm clothes at this time of year. Make sure you prepare for the cold, and pack a thick winter coat, along with a hat, scarf and gloves.Averages
In January, the average temperature in Borovets reaches a maximum of -2ºC in the warmest part of the day. With lows of -8ºC, you’ll need lots of thick layers to protect yourself from the icy weather.
