What’s the weather like in Bruges in January?
January is the coldest time of the year in Bruges, which experiences low temperatures and quite a few downpours over the month. If you like to do a lot of sightseeing and exploring on holiday, it’s the perfect time to visit with fewer crowds than the summer.
Geographical influences
Bruges is an old town on the northern coast of Belgium. Its location means that the town has a very cold climate for most of the year, which shouldn’t be much of a problem if you’re travelling from the UK. You should expect some heavy rainfall scattered throughout the month with temperatures almost dropping below freezing.

Bruges weather in January is cold and wet with an average daily temperature of just 4°C. Things continue to get colder throughout the day with evening lows of 1°C. Northerly winds often bring temperatures down further and it’s possible you’ll wake up to a few light touches of frost in the morning. There are just two hours of sunshine per day with a high chance of cloud coverage and 64mm of rainfall.
