What’s the weather like in Thailand in April?
Sitting close to the equator, most of Thailand has a tropical climate. This means temperatures are high all year round. If you're going in April you can look forward to lots of warm and sunny weather, although the amount of rain picks up a bit as the south western monsoon approaches. April’s in the north eastern monsoon that will give you cooler, clearer and less humid conditions than the south western monsoon that’s from May to October. If it does rain, it’s not usually for very long.
Averages
One of Thailand’s most popular islands, Koh Samui, has an average high of 32ºC in April. You'll still be nice and warm in the evenings, as temperatures only cool to 25ºC, so a room with air conditioning is a good idea. The sea temperature is a warm 30ºC, which is perfect for swimming, while humidity’s very high. There’s 85mm of rain over eight days, and you can expect eight hours of sunshine from the 12 hours of daylight each day. UV levels will be extremely high so bring plenty of sun cream with you. The sun goes down at 6.30pm.
