What's the weather like in Malaysia in December?
Malaysia is a vast and beautiful country with different weather patterns from region to region, affected by monsoons. In December, most of Malaysia is dry, sunny and hot, with the very best weather found on the west coast including the capital Kuala Lumpur. On the east coast, the seasonal monsoon brings daily rainstorms and rough seas, so it’s worth avoiding Redang, Kuantan and Kota Bharu at this time of the year.
Averages
The west coast of Malaysia, including Penang and Langkawi, has the best weather in December. An average temperature of 30°C and lots of sunshine during the day makes this a great time of year to relax on the beautiful beaches. Temperatures in Kuala Lumpur average around 27°C, and although tropical downpours are common with 250mm of rain expected across the month, wet weather’s usually intense and short-lived. Further east, temperatures are a warm 27°C, but it’s very rainy and the sea can be rough.
