What’s the weather like in Amsterdam in March?
Visiting Amsterdam in March is great if you want to explore the city’s main attractions without feeling the heat of the summer. Temperatures are quite low, but slightly warmer than the winter. You’ll also notice the sun stays out for an extra few hours towards the end of the month, giving you more time to explore and enjoy your time away.
Geographical influences
Amsterdam is the capital city of the Netherlands. Its oceanic climate means that the city can be quite windy, with breezes coming in from the North Sea and others from the inner European continent. Since it’s surrounded by water on three sides, temperatures won’t plummet too low, which is great as the seasons move into spring and things start to warm up.
Averages
The average temperature is around 9°C during the day, which is quite cold so make sure to bring a jacket to stay warm. Amsterdam weather in March is slightly less cloudy as winter comes to an end and you’ll have at least six to nine hours of sunshine a day. March is one of the wettest months of the year, with around 80mm of rainfall spread over the month.
