Warm, dry and sunny is the best way to describe the Africa weather in October! The continent enjoys lots of clear blue skies this month and temperatures stay in the high teens. Hotspots such as Egypt’s Sharm El Sheikh, Mombasa in Kenya and Banjul in The Gambia are several degrees higher.
Geographical influences
Resorts in the far north of Africa, such as Morocco and Algeria, generally have a slightly cooler climate in October. This is because countries below the equator in the southern hemisphere, such as Kenya, South Africa and Mozambique, are heading towards summer at this time. If you stay at a resort along Africa’s vast coastline you should benefit from a cool sea breeze, which helps to keep you comfortable on hotter days in October.

The weather in Africa in October produces an average daytime temperature of 19°C across the continent. Because Africa’s so huge, this can vary from 29°C in Mombasa and Sharm El Sheikh, 20°C in Cape Town and 25°C in Algiers. Some countries experience quite high rainfall this month, with The Gambia, South Africa and Kenya all getting more than 60mm on average. Sunshine is one thing you can rely on in Africa in October. The continent gets an average of 12 hours each day this month, with the sun in Banjul rising at 7am and finally setting at nearly 7pm. The humidity level is moderate on average in Africa this month, at around 60%, and in hotter countries like Kenya the UV index will be high.
